Q. spacer What if I have questions during my class—how do I communicate with my professors?
spacer
A. spacer Kaplan University students enjoy more contact with their professors than do many students in a traditional college. Here are some of the course's interactive features:

* spacer Online readings
* spacer Web field trips
* spacer Classroom message boards
* spacer Internal messaging system
* spacer Live chat

Because classroom interactivity is online, every student has an equal chance to have his questions responded to and his opinions heard. Your instructors can answer any questions or engage in a discussion via message boards on the internal messaging system (I mail). In addition, Kaplan University representatives are available—via email, live chat, or phone—for times when you need help.

Q. spacer Do I need my own computer?
spacer
A. spacer Yes, you need a computer with a modem and access to the Internet. You may need to download free plug-ins to run the course software. If that is the case, you will be informed and provided with a link to the download site.

Q. spacer How do you know that students are learning and retaining the topics discussed in each lesson?
spacer
A. spacer We ensure our students' progress in a number of ways:
spacer
* spacer Online Quizzes — Students take a quiz at the end of each lesson. The required passing average for the quizzes is 80 percent, and each quiz consists of 8-10 questions.
spacer
* spacer Online Exam After Each Course — Students take a final exam at the end of each course. The passing grade is 70 percent.
spacer
* spacer Message Boards — Students can post questions on the message board and can expect a prompt response within 24 hours from experienced practitioners and educators. Every student who needs help will receive it.
spacer
* spacer Web Field Trips — Students visit various research sites around the Web. These exercises usually take about 45 minutes. Students are asked to take notes in their Learning Journal for later reference.
spacer
* spacer Online Review Course - An intensive online review course is the final step in preparing the student for the CFP® Certification Examination.1 The online review course consists of hundreds of practice questions (derived form the 101 topics in the program), and a 300-question simulation of the CFP® Certification Examination.

Q. spacer What is IARFC?
A. spacer The International Association of Registered Financial Consultants (IARFC) is a non-profit professional credentialing organization of proven financial professionals formed to foster public confidence in the financial planning profession, to help financial advisors exchange planning techniques, and to give deserved recognition to those practitioners who are truly committed to ethical standards and continuous professional education. The IARFC awards the Registered Financial Consultant (RFC) designation.

Q. spacer How does the RFC compare to the CFP® Certification?1
A. spacer Financial planners have experience in many fields, including accounting, law, banking, life and health insurance, casualty insurance, finance, business management, taxes and investments. Various designations may attest to a financial planner’s competence and integrity. Both the RFC designation and CFP® certification are highly respected credentials with consumers and constituents.

Q. spacer After receiving the RFC designation can I still earn my CFP® Certification?
A. spacer Yes, of course many financial planners maintain multiple credentials emphasizing their professionalism including such designations as RFC, CFP®, ChFC, CPA, CLU, and CPCU. In fact, one natural financial consulting career path is to complete the Certificate in Financial Planning thus obtaining the RFC designation, establish your financial consulting business to meet CFP® experience requirements, and as you build your career seek CFP® Certification.

Q. spacer How can I promote my RFC designation?
A. spacer One of the significant benefits of being an RFC is simultaneous IARFC membership. Members network to promote community amongst financial consultants. Periodicals and brochures assist members with their own business promotion through conveying of “best practices.” Through cooperative efforts, RFCs promote not only the RFC designation but also the benefits to consumers of financial consulting.

Q. spacer How many individuals maintain the RFC designation?
A. spacer The prestigious RFC credential is held by more than 2000 financial consulting professionals. IARFC maintains strict compliance for its RFC designees. The seven hallmarks for RFCs include: education, examination, ethics, experience, licensing, continued conduct and continuing education.

Q. spacer What is the Live Review?3
A. spacer The Kaplan University and Dearborn Financial Services Live Review includes educational workshops that will enhance your preparations for the CFP Board's CFP® Certification Examination. Join us for the Live Review that will feature a top-notch panel of financial planning professionals and faculty members who will review more than 100 integrated financial planning topics.
